VFW Sponsors Annual Contest
How would you like to win $500, a set of the Encyclopedia Britannica, and a wrist watch? It's possible if you enter the 17th Annual Voice of Democracy contest, which is sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

This year's subject is "The Challenge of Citizenship." The speech must be from three to five minutes in length which is delivered orally on tape. The recording is played back to judges on the local, district, and state levels.
After the judges listen to the tapes they judge them on clarity or thought, expression, and general content to determine the winner.

Last year, Davis Hall '64, won first place in Illinois enabling him to go on an all‑expense paid trip to Washington, D. C. "All sophomores, juniors, and seniors are encouraged to compete in this contest," said Mr. Eric Edstrom, social science teacher.
