Homecoming Features Decatur Tonight
Homecoming '63 will present floats, pagentry, and two great football games. At 6 p.m., the junior varsity will meet GB South, then at 8 Maine's varsity Warriors will meet the Panthers of Decatur‑Eisenhower High School. Decatur should provide excellent competition for the gridmen, who are undefeated in Conference play.

Last Saturday the Warriors traveled to Prospect to challenge the Knights, who were predicted by the Chicago American to take the Mid-Suburban crown. With scores in the second, third, and fourth quarters, the Mainites humbled the Knights on their Homecoming, 34-14.

Curren Scores 4 TD's

Charlie Curren scored the first of his four touchdowns on a 6-yard run, culminating a steady drive. John Gabbert's kick was good and Maine took the lead, 7-0. Curren scored twice more in the half, once on a 3-yard plunge and again on a 38-yard sprint. As both extra points were made, the half ended with the Warriors holding a 21-0 lead.

Maine kicked to Prospect, who proceeded to score its first points of the game on a 56-yard pass play. The Knights converted and the score stood 21-7. But Maine came back with a steady drive, sending Cal Lewis through the defense to chalk up six more points. The kick was missed and Maine lengthened its lead once more, 27-7. Each team scored once more in the final quarter. Prospect tallied on a 1-yard plunge after a steady drive.
The Warrior's fifth score came when Curren scampered 21 yards for the final points for Coach Olson's squad.

GB Is Blanked

Maine opened its Conference season by downing Glenbrook North, 20-0, October 4th. Two touchdowns by Jim Cichowski, coupled with an outstanding job on the part of the entire defensive unit, enabled the Warriors to continue their supremacy over the Spartans for the fourth consecutive year.

Maine kicked off, but GB's first drive was quelled when Chuck Esposito intercepted a Spartan pass. The Warriors' first score came soon after when Cichowski scored on a 15‑yard run. The kick was good. The rest of the half saw the teams exchange punts with neither team able to score. At the half, Maine led, 7‑0.

GB kicked off to start the second half. Cichowski again scored on a 3‑yard run. Gabbert's kick was good. The final score of the evening came when Cal Lewis crossed the goal on a short run.
