Fall Concert To Be Given
November 8
"Peter and the Wolf" will highlight the annual fall orchestra and choral concert which will be presented in the auditorium on Friday, November 8th at 8 p.m.
Played by the concert orchestra, this musical classic along with "The Merrymaker's Dance" and selections from "Show Boat" will be conducted by Mrs. Mildred Heidorn, orchestra director.
The junior orchestra will open the concert with "Poet and Peasant Overture" and "Chorus of Huntsmen from 'Der Freischutz.'" Fanidis' "Pixi‑Cato" along with three other classics will be presented by the string orchestra.
Chorus Members Named
The girls' chorus will present "Now Let Every Tongue Adore Thee" by Bach and "Lolly‑toodum," an American folk song. "A song of Free Men," a French song with words written by James Whitcomb Riley and "A Roving," a sea chantey, will be sung by the boys.
Selections by the girls' glee this year are to be "Autumn Leaves" by Mercer, Prevert, and Kosma, and "Night in the Desert" by Jenkins.
Four songs will be presented by the a cappella choir including "Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord" by Lekerb, "Roots and Leaves" by Ralph Williams, "Jimmie's Got a Goil" by Persichetti, and "Psalm 36" by Jared T. Spears, a music teacher at West.
The choraliers will sing "Silver Swan" by Gibbson and "Turtle Dove," a folk song arranged by Vaughn Williams. Davis Hall '64, will be the soloist. Mr. Wilbur Schafer will direct all numbers.
Admission is $1 for adults and 75 cents for children. Music Booster tickets will be honored.
