Debaters Will Appear on TV
"Because of Maine's numerous wins in television debating, prospects are excellent for the squad's coming appearance on Rebuttal," announced Mr. E. Edstrom, debate coach.

Out of 48 schools tested at Northwestern, Maine West was one of 25 chosen to compete on WBBM's 1963‑64 Rebuttal series. The Warrior debaters will take the negative to the question Resolved: That Congress should enact FEPC legislation. Highland Park High School will be Maine's TV opponents on Saturday, December 14. The first round of TV debates begins tomorrow, November 2.
The debaters will open this year's Suburban Interstate Debate League competition when they appear at Evanston Township High School on November 16th for their first formal debate of the season. Between 40 and 120 schools will participate in this and other contests which will be held approximately every two or three weeks up until next June.

Evanston, Kenosha, Morton, and New Trier are among the League's schools which will provide Maine's 42 delegates with some of the country's stiffest competition. Because the SIDL has placed first and second in nation‑wide standings three times in recent years, the battle for League supremacy may well develop into one of national consequence.
