VOL. V, NO. 4
New Registration Method
Includes Group Discussion
"Have you heard?"
"No, what?"
"The great new idea!"
"What great new idea?"
"The new way of registering for next year's courses."
"Well, how will it work?"
Registration for next year's classes began on October 25. For those freshmen and new students who don't know, registration last year was done by getting each teacher in that particular field to sign a form which was received from the homeroom teacher. This brought about a great amount of work and confusion for the homeroom teacher.
This year registration will begin with a study period conference between the counselor and student groups under his supervision. Seeing that each student gets the right course selections is the aim of the counseling staff.
Group conferences discussions the requirements for graduation and courses to be taken the following year will be covered. Next each student will have an individual conference with a counselor and go over such things as the previous school year record, individual interests, and abilities.
"The homeroom teacher will still play a vital role in the process of registration" pointed out Mr. Wayne Rosenquist, chairman of the counseling department, "even though the mechanics will be done mostly by the counselors and department chairmen." Those students who are planning on taking a continued course, such as from Typing I to Typing II will still have to have the approval of the present teacher which will be obtained by the counselor.
"Students should make very serious course selections so that changes will not be necessary," urged Mr. Rosenquist. All who wish to enroll in summer school should indicate this during registration also.
