UNDISPUTED CHAMPS of the conference went to the frosh-soph cross country team as it defeated Forest View by a score of 24-32 Tuesday, October 22nd. It was the eighth straight victory of the season for the harriers. Freshman Eddie Lusk led the team to victory, coming in first with a fine time of 8:28, over the one and a half mile course. Kevin Flurkey was second with 8:30. Ray Todd finished 6th, 8:49; Ron Harrigan, 7th, 8:50; and Scott Evans, 8th, 8:51.

GIRLS, NOW THAT the football season is over, you probably have discovered that to be where the boys are, you must go to the games. Football‑watching is a hazardous occupation, not to be taken lightly. You must brave the heat and freezing cold, risk permanent hoarseness, a sore sitter, and stepped‑on toes. The fact that you survive does not guarantee you gratitude from the he‑man fan. You must act interested and informed. You may not know the first thing about sports, but if your date is a true fan, you'd better store up bits of information by reading the sports pages.

THE FROSH GRIDMEN were unable to stop an offensive attack by the Forest View Falcons and lost their first conference game at home last Saturday, 14-7. Their Conference record is now 4-1. The week before the frosh beat Glenbrook South, 32-21 in an away game. Touchdowns were made by Mandelky, Lossman, Fulbright, and Romness. The extra points were made by Mandelky and Fulbright.

MOST FANS CHEER the backfieldmen for a touchdown and blame the lineman for letting the opposition through. Not many realize who makes so much of the glamor and glory of football possible. Because of their hard work and desire to do the best job, not for the glory, but for the team, the linemen are the unsung heros of the football scene . . . THE LINEMAN'S job is nothing but hard work, with nothing of the personal glory which floods the shifty halfback. The fan cannot realize the amount of physical punishment that a player receives in the course of a game. He must silently take his medicine and keep on fighting - SURE, the members of his own team recognize his importance, but how many of the spectators stop and think what really makes football the game it is?

WEST'S SOPHOMORE football team is deserving of some well earned praise, as their efforts are steadily chalking up a commendable record. Under head coach Nyren, the squad recently defeated Glenbrook South, 21-6, with touchdowns by Hansch, Ryden, and Kautz. Last Saturday the Warriors knocked over Forest View, 14-6. Martin and Ryden scored the TD's, while Hansch and Ryden scored the extra points.

THE JV GRIDDERS HOPES of a win seemed to be vanishing, until they broke their 3-game losing streak by tying, Forest View, 13-13, on October 25th. They except to end the season with a victory over Deerfield tomorrow. With both teams having identical seasonal records in the Conference, this should be quite an exciting exhibition.
