Thinclads Finish Fifth Out
Of Eighteen at District Meet
On Tuesday, October 29th, the harriers beat a highly regarded Deerfield cross country team, 20-43. Weinert of Deerfield took 1st, with a time of 10:06. The next four places went to Maine, as Greco came in 2nd, 10:10; Kinder 3rd, 10:38; Biggs 4th, 10:50 and Martin 5th 10:51

Finishing fifth out of 18 schools, the thinclads participated in the State District meet held at Ridgewood High School on Saturday, October 26. The first Warrior to finish was John Greco, who came in second and qualified for the State meet in Champaign tomorrow. To qualify for State competition, a runner has to finish in the first five places or the team must finish first or second.

Glenbard West won the District, Oak Park was second, York (last year's state champions) was third, Willowbrook fourth, and Maine West fifth with 147 points.
Other thinclads who figured in the scoring were Don Kinder, 31st; Phil Martin, 32nd; Rich Kehrer, 41st; and Lloyd Schiegel, 47th. Bob Biggs and Tom Johnstone also ran.

The varsity harriers clashed with the Forest View Falcons in a dual meet at Forest View on Tuesday, October 22nd, corning out on top of a 27-34 score, to tie the Falcons for third place in the Conference standings. The team's record is now 5-3.

In the Forest View meet, Greco took first place and the Falcon runners finished 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, respectively. The Warrior's depth prevailed, however, as Don Kinder came in 5th; Lloyd Schlegel, 6th; Tom Johnstone, 7th; Bob Gundelach, 8th; Bob Biggs, 9th; Wayne Bushkin, 10th; Phil Martin, 11th; and Phil Boyce, 12th. All finished before the fourth Forest View runner was clocked.
