VOL. V, NO. 5
Drool, Gruel through Turkey
By Cheryl Hagedon
The table was loaded with stuffing and peas
Carrots and 'taters and old turkey knees
Wings from the bird hidden with noodles
Bread from the oven buried with oodles
Of cranberries, yams, celery, and gravy,
Beans of all kinds, kidney to navy,
Corn bright and yellow, squash is there, too,
Pass me the cabbage and let the pie come through.
Mince meat or pumpkin, so good to your taste
We'll eat turkey for weeks, so there's really no haste.
We've got spinach, and turnips, even some beets,
Tomatoes and onions and beaucoup kinds of meats.
All that sumptuous, scrumptuous food makes me drool,
But the best part of all - On Thanksgiving, no school!
