Coach Baer Sees A Good Year Ahead
"Although we'll be up against some tough teams, we're going to have a tremendous season this year," cites head coach Harold Baer. The tankers open their season November 23rd against Oak Park, in a home meet starting at 7:30 p.m.
Returning lettermen include Jimo Kurht, Tom Gast, Bill Schacht, Eric Berg, Dave Grant, Jim Hyerdahl, John Gunderson, Jim Byrne, and Dick Heller.
"To achieve a Conference victory, we're going to have to beat Glenbrook North and Deerfield," said Jimo Kurht, "but we can do it with plenty of work."
On the frosh‑soph level, Coach Kearns seems optimistic. "This year's freshmen," said Coach Kearns, "are the largest and best talented group we've had yet. There are a lot of experienced freshmen from both the Des Plaines and Park Ridge Park District swimming teams. From all indications, this is going to be a good year."
Returning to the frosh‑soph team from the class of '66 are Ed Borski, Doug Newman, Larry Anderson, Greg Gundling, Gary Robbins, Mike Hammer, Greg Small, and Reid Erven.
Frosh‑soph coach Kearns added, "I haven't formed any squads yet, and any freshman or sophomore boy who wishes to come out, is needed and is indeed welcome."
