10 Lettermen Give Gymnasts New Power
With 26 boys trying out for positions, the varsity gymnastics team started practice November 4th. Ten returning lettermen are expected to make the team a strong contender this year.
Fred Bach, Terry Bishop, Stealy Branch, Dick Braun, John Kennett, Tom Roessing, Ralph Searles, Bob Spect, Dick Stover, and Dave Wollard are the lettermen. Roessing placed seventh in the state meet held at York High School last year.
Have Good Depth
"If every boy on the team puts out to his absolute maximum," said head coach Sid Drain, "we could give every team we meet a real run for its money. This year we have a lot of boys on every piece of equipment, and if one boy doesn't perform as well as he can, I'll have someone to take his place. In past years, the varsity never has had this much depth." Coach Drain also expressed hopes that a good showing of students and parents will attend the meets this year as he feels that it means everything to the boys.
The Warrior musclemen will open against last year's state champs, Evanston, in the B‑Wing gym, on November 26th.
