Music Department Will Present
Concert Tonite
One way to forget that today is Friday 13th is to attend the Christmas concert tonight at 8 p.m. when the Maine West music organizations present the great music of the Christmas season.

More than 200 student musicians have been practicing for the past several weeks in order to present a varied program of interest to all. "The attendance is limited to the capacity of the seats in the auditorium," informed Mr. Robert Kuite, chairman of the Music Department. "Because of this there will be some people who would like to attend that will be disappointed. Entry will be by special ticket only until the doors are opened to the public at 7:45."

Making its. first 1963 public appearance ndoors, the state champion band will open the concert with familiar Christmas music. They will play "The Toy Trumpet," "Music for a Carnival," "Carol of the Drum," "Bavarian Music Box" which will feature the percussion section, and "Suite of Carols" consisting of "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" with English Horn soloist Mary Ann Gembicki '64, this number will feature the entire woodwind section of the band.
Making its second public appearance this year, the string orchestra will present "Dance Russe Tripak" from the "Nut Cracker Suite," O Holy Night," and "Symphony of Bells," under the direction of Mrs. Mildred Heidorn. Featured in the last number will be 18 bells played by two students. These are hand bells from Pakistan and were especially rented for this concert. The set is worth over $600. The two bell players will be Pat Johnson '66, and Dawn Piotter 65. Robert Kraus '65, will play the orchestra bells.

Choirs Perform

The A Cappella choir, directed by Mr. Wilbur Schafer, will sing 'Twas the Night Before Christmas" with soloists Betty Gano '64, Dave Humphreys '65, and Patrick LaSalle '65. Mrs. Paul Nettinga will be the organist and Bonnie Boeck '65, the pianist.

Highlighting the evening will be a combined presentation of the orchestra, A Cappella choir, selected members of boys' chorus, and girls' glee club of "The Hallelujah Chorus" from "The Messiah."
