Our Teams Deserve Support
Is it a crime to have school spirit? If you ever attend a pep rally that is the impression you might get. For the 3,000 or more students who missed the rally for the Barrington game, here is a summary of what happened. Diane Dormeyer '65, made a determined effort to whip up some spirit with the aid of the cheerleaders and the; pom‑pom squad. The response was so bad that people in the library probably didn't know there was a pep rally, let alone hear the pep rally.

The crowning moment came when the classes cheered in competition. Freshmen and juniors were not too bad (though they were not great), but the sophomores and seniors should not have bothered to compete.
Possibly 20 sophomores were present; the senior class was not represented by anyone but the teams, senior cheerleaders, and senior pom-pom squad girls. The senior boys on the 'teams stood up, looked around, and then sat down again. Dave Aegerter '64 rose and said, "Thanks a lot for your support." He spoke to the seniors and other classmen who were not present.

If this is the kind of support we give our teams, it is time to change our ways. We cannot expect our teams to win without something worth winning for. To win they need our support.
