Language Club Parties Add
To Fun of Christmas Time
Christmas is a naturally festive season and Maine West language clubs are making it even more so with Christmas parties, most of which will take place the week before Christmas vacation begins.

The German Club will hold its annual party on December 18th. At the party  refreshments will be served and' a play will be presented by some of the members.

Other activities which the club members are looking forward to are perhaps a visit to the Davis Theatre, which presents German films. They have already made a trip there, but since it was so enjoyable they would like to go again. Another very interesting, and unusual, idea is that of printing a German newspaper.

The annual banquet when the officers for the next school year are announced will take place sometime toward the end of this school year.

The officers for the 1963-64 school year are Bill Strand '65, president; Dick Buchanan '65, vice-president; Barb Colberg 65, secretary; and Pam Pagel '64, treasurer.
Tovarichs! Let us unite! If you're taking Russian, then join the Russian Club.

Activities planned for this year include a Christmas party, to be held December 18th, and a May Day celebration. T h e club may also invite a man to come and teach Russian folk dances to its members. It has done this before and has always turned out to be a successful project.

Jane Wolski '65, president, admitted, "People taking Russian are usually more enthusiastic, and judging from our meetings, a little more rowdy than most groups of people, but it all adds up to a lot of fun."

Mr. Gustave Carlson, sponsor, spends most of his time at the meetings sitting at his desk and giving helpful advice.

An ancient Roman festival, the Saturnalia, is the theme for the Latin Club's Christmas party. It will be December 17, and the Latin students will participate by singing Christmas carols in Latin.

Throughout the year, the Latin Club decorates the Latin room to commemorate the different holidays.
