Bucketmen To Meet W. Leyden
Enter With Three Straight Wins
After two opening losses, the Warrior bucketmen have come on strong with three straight wins early in the season. The team's next game is tonight against West Leyden.

East Leyden is second on the agenda and third is the Proviso Holiday tournament. Last year against West Leyden, the Warriors won, 66-46. Against East Leyden, West was victorious in two attempts, 76-58 and 69-57. Maine was beaten in the final game by Morton West last season and finished second in the tournament.

Wehlacz Scores 25

Against Niles West, the bucketmen got off to a slow start with the score at the end of the first quarter 16-13 in favor of the Indians. The first half score had West down by one point, 27-26. But in the third quarter, Maine jumped in the lead and stayed there throughout the game. In the last quarter, Maine scored 14 points to its opponents six to win the game, 60-44. The Warrior high scorer was Joe Wehlacz with 25. He was followed by Jim Smith with 19.
In the Proviso West game, the Maine squad took the lead early and held it all through the game to win by a 62-54 score. Dennis Gundling was the high scorer with 15 points, and was followed by Wehlacz who netted 13.

Beat Willowbrook

West won its first game of the season against Willowbrook by a score of 66-51 on Saturday, November 30th. The half time score was knotted 30-30, but the netmen held their opponents to 10 and 11 points, respectively, in the third and fourth quarters. It was sweet revenge for the Warriors, as last year Willowbrook beat the bucketmen by one point, 69-68. The high scorer was Wehlacz again with 28 points. Jim Smith was next with 18.
