All Sophomores Heed Advice
If you are a sophomore of sound mind (or fairly so) with school spirit and an inquisitive mind (keyhole peeker) then this is for you.

In order to publish the school newspaper, we have to have people like you. By being on The Westerner staff, Maine West's school newspaper, you can gain in valuable experience that will go with you into any line of work you might do in the future. You will also be helping your school by supporting one of the major activities that helps bind the students together.

How do you become eligible for The Westerner staff? Sign up for English IIIJ. Don't put it off any longer!

The only qualification is a strong C grade or a higher grade in your present English class. Since you have to take English III, why not consider English IIIJ?
You will receive full college credit for English IIIJ. You will get exactly the same literary coverage. The only difference will be substituting a journalism book for a grammar book. You will learn how a newspaper works from top to bottom. You will be able to get first hand experience in a real printing shop.

Not probable, but possibly‑you might want to join the now over 1,000,000 people working in the field of journalism. You could even become another Try Kupcinet or Tony Weitzel or Bill Maudlin or Edan Wright or Alice Bourke White.

This year 50 people took English IIIJ and will profit from their experiences. How about you?
