Matmen Post 6-4-1 Record
The varsity grapplers defeated Oak Park 29-14 on Tuesday, January 21st, to give them a 6-4-1 record. Dick Jensen, Joe Panegasser, and Bill Rosenbergh all pinned their opponents; Jim Keller, Terry Klatt, Erv Geisler, and Mike Tompkins all won by decisions; John Krumpos tied; and John Fowler, Ed Riedel, Jim Cichowski, and Mark Praxmarer all dropped decisions.
The varsity grapplers defeated Forest View 29-11 on January 17th. On January 14th they lost to Evanston by a score of 25-15. Their single tie came on January 10th with Prospect, 20-20. The matmen will take on Glenbrook North tonight, in an away meet.
In the Forest View meet Dick Jensen, Jim Keller, Joe Panegasser, Terry Klatt, Erv Geisler, Ed Riedel, Mike Tompkins, and Bill Rosenbergh all won, Rosenbergh by pinning his opponent in 47 seconds. John Krumpos, John Fowler, and Bob Larsen were the only three to face defeat.
Jensen Reaches 33
So far this season, Jensen has only been scored upon twice, first in the Evanston meet, then in the Forest View. However, he won both matches by a score of 10-4. He is as yet undefeated this season with seven pins and four decisions. He now holds a record of 33 straight victories.
Win Quadrangular Meet
The Warriors were a great success at the Lake Park Quadrangular meet on January 4th as they took first place. The results were MAINE WEST-90, Glenbard East-80, Arlington-74, and Lake Park-64. There were five firsts representing Maine. They were Jensen, Keller, Fowler, Geisler, and Rosenbergh.
