This Year's Broadway Hit
Will Run for Extra Night
Kiss Me Kate, the Broadway musical selected by the Maine West Music Department, will be presented March 12th, 13th, and 14th in the auditorium. All tickets are reserved and sell for $1.25 and $1.75 in the bookstore. The show will run three nights due to the success of last year's Brigadoon.

Opening December 30, 1948, at the New Antury Theatre on Broadway, Kiss Me Kate was an immediate success. The show closed after 1,077 performances. The original production starred Alfred Drake, Lisa Kirk, Patricia Morrison, and Harold Lanz. It later became an unbelievable success in Germany, and it also became the first American musical ever done in Poland.
The story concerns the efforts of Fred Graham, which will be played by Davis Hall '64, and Lilli Vanessi, played by Karen Rivard '64, to rekindle the flame of their one‑time love. Kiss Me Kate is a comical takeoff on Shakespeare's play The Taming of the Shrew. Opening the show will be a rousing rendition of "Another Opnin', Another Show." Other memorable tunes in the show are "So In Love" which will be sung by Karen Rivard and "Were Thine That Special Face" which will be sung by Davis Hall.
