THE MAINE POINT
By John Gauger

Have you ever wondered what would happen if the Supreme Court ruled the Cub Scout laws unconstitutional? Countless thousands of America's youth would be herded before some sub‑committee for subverting the principles our country was founded upon. But then again it has happened before. Ho‑hum.

Recently there have been cries for Student Council reform. Critics say that Student Council representatives never tell you how they voted, nor about major issues. This is undeniably true, but what is also true is that the student body is equally culpable. Apathy is running wild. When student body reform comes, Student Council reform will follow naturally.
A high percentage of the American flags in the class rooms are getting rather dingy. This is obviously a scheme on the part of the administration to win over the vast majority of the students. It is common knowledge that today's youth are apathetic, in a sense, to American patriotism. Thus, the average student finds himself now linked with the administration in an impenetrable manner. I think it was Nola Tungee who said, "I would rather play dominos than see a flag get dirty." No one was quite sure as to which flag she was referring.
