Dick Likes Clubs, Council, Thespians
"Being elected to Student Council has been my greatest experience in high school," announced Dick Nedwed. Dick believes that students expect too much from Student Council. "Council is not supposed to be a great governing body trying to push over projects. The students on council are also being educated, and if all students would believe this, Student Council would definitely be successful," stated Dick.
Dick is also president of Thespian Society and a member of Key Club. Concerning Thespian Society, Dick made this comment, "Thespian Society is a dramatic society open to all students who have worked in stage productions and who qualify. It consists of the best actors in school and the most active students in stage work."
In addition to all this, Dick has worked on V‑Show for three years, and this year he’s is in the dance chorus.
Dick's favorite foods are chop suey and egg salad sandwiches. The class competition and students who always criticize the school spirit are his pet peeves.
Dick believes that a student to be really educated must learn from activities outside of the classroom. "Some of the most important things I have learned in high school have come from the clubs I have joined," said Dick.
History is Dick's favorite subject, and he hopes to become a history teacher. He plans to attend the University of Illinois and major in political science.
Austin, Texas, was called Waterloo when it was first settled in 1838.
