History Elites 'Interviewed'
By Susan Narbutas
It appears to be a month of the births of famous people. What would it be like to interview some of the "great ones." Let's go back into history and find out. Each of them was asked this question, "What will you be doing February 24th, the day Maine West students don't have to go to school?"
George Washington '76, I'm going to go down to Ma Brown's near the Delaware to pick up a quart of cherries so I can have Martha make me a cherry pie."
Abraham Lincoln '63, "This year I am going to stay home and make a recording of my address at Gettysburg. It might make the top 10."
John Paul Jones '80, "First things first. You should be thinking about hiring an exterminator. I heard about those beatles."
Pocohontas '06, "Me and the Captain are gonna skip this pad of long‑haired Fabians."
Betsy Ross '77, "That is going to be the day I stop making those flags unless I get a thimble."
Paul Revere '65, "It will be my last midnight ride. I'm getting too old for that kind of stuff."
Benjaman Franklin '50, "I'm going to invent a new means of communication. It is called extra sensory conception."
General Lee '47, "I'll never make that mistake again."
