Nowak Enjoys Cars, Boats;
Paset Favors Bridge, Skiing
Besides being Maine West's newest Industrial Arts teacher, Mr. Richard Nowak, enjoys working on cars and refinishing boats in his spare time.

This tall, brown‑haired man was born in Chicago and lived there ever since. He attended Northern Illinois University where he majored in Industrial Arts. There he belonged to an honorary fraternity where a "B" or above average had to be maintained. In 1965, he plans to receive his Masters Degree from DeVry Institute of Technology. Before becoming a teacher, Mr. Nowak worked for the West Virginia Paper and Pulp Company.

Mr. Nowak advises the student to "get all the knowledge he can from instructors. Teachers aren't just shoving work down his throat, they're trying to help him."

When asked about his pet peeves, Mr. Nowak says with a smile, "The teacher who precedes me in electric shop always leaves his books in a mess on the desk."

In the past, Mr. Nowak has visited Mexico, Acapulco, and about one‑half of the United States. His future also looks bright. In June he is looking forward to becoming a husband and possibly going into partnership with a friend to open a boat refinishing shop.
This year's only new member of the girls' physical education department is young, attractive, and active Miss Marlene Paset.

Miss Paset received her Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Michigan. She became a physical education teacher because "I don't like to sit for a prolonged period of time." She enjoys the variety of subject material covered in gym, and she really enjoys teaching.

Miss Paset enjoys all sports but the ones that take up most of her spare time are skiing and bridge. Miss Paset thinks Maine West students and faculty are great.

Miss Paset's future plans include working for her Master's Degree this summer, but she doesn't know where.
