FEBRUARY 21, 1964
GEORGE WASHINGTON
By Peggy Pepmiller

We owe him all our past
And the future yet to come.
We honor him with waving stripes,
The fife and rolling drum.

Our spangled banner's waving high.
Never shall it fall!
He helped us get it where it is
This soldier, strong and tall.

His name is known most everywhere
Through legends that we tell
About his love of honesty
When a cherry tree, he fell.

He opened the door to democracy
And started us on our way
To build our structure of
government To what it is today.
