5 Grapplers Have Chance
At Sectionals
The varsity grapplers finished the season as the Conference champs when they trampled Glenbrook South 38-8 on Friday, February 7th. Their final record stands at 9-4-1.
Take 1st in Districts
Maine West also finished on top in the District tournament with three firsts. Jensen took first in the 95-pound division by winning all three of his matches, the first two by pins. At 103 Krumpos won, then lost his last two matches for a fourthplace standing. Joe Panegasser lost at 120, O'Hare lost at 127, and at 133 Klatt lost.
Geisler finished on top in the 138-pound division with two pins and a decision. Tompkins also took first at 154 with three decisions. At 165 Cichowski placed third by winning his first and third matches, but losing his second. Bob Larsen lost at 180, and in the heavyweight division, Rosenbergh finished second by pinning his first two opponents, but getting pinned himself in the third match.
Five Warriors qualified for Sectional competition. They are Jensen, Keller, Geisler, Tompkins, and Rosenbergh. The Sectionals will be held tonight and tomorrow at Arlington High School.
