MAINE WEST JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM, under Coach Gene Zuccarini came up with their fifth and sixth conference victories of the season as they upended the Forest View Falcons 47-34, and Glenbrook South 40-25, on the Maine East court. Coach Zuccarini started a lineup of Don Kinder and Tom Hendrickson as guards, Ted Wolter and Chuck Peterson as forwards, and Gordon Olsen at center.

THE SOPHOMORES lost 39-36 to a fired up Falcon team, and beat Glenbrook South 60-47. In the Forest View game, it was touch and go for three quarters, but the Falcons outscored the Warriors in the last quarter, thus making the difference. Ken Mueller and Dick Kruse led the Mainites with eight points apiece.

THE SENIOR AND JUNIOR champions of Intramural basketball have been decided. In the senior division, Mr. Carsten's 9th period class led by Don Witte were champions. They defeated ten teams to take the honors. Members of the squad were Ron Fritz, Les Jannusch, Jim Kern, Dick Lunsford, Dale Luzinski, Mike Neese, Bob Nickel, and captain, Don Witte.

In the junior division, it was again Coach Carstens 9th period squad who took the title. This squad was undefeated and won its championship game 29-24 over Goelz. On the squad were John Curtin, Tom Johnstone, Bob Kuhn, Mike Kuzich, Jeff Lossau, Bob Means, Ed Mormon, and Frank Tantone.

Today after school, intramural basketball will have its free throw tournament for junior and senior boys in the B‑wing gym.

THE MAINE WEST FROSH‑SOPH gymnastics squad will host the Knights of Prospect tomorrow evening in B‑Wing gym, in a try for the Mid‑Suburban Conference championship.

In past action, the little gymnasts have won three meets in a row, making their seasonal record 7-7. The musclemen have defeated Forest View 78-54, Glenbrook South 66 1/2 – 64 1/2, and last Saturday, Wheaton 75-57.

AFTER CLINCHING first place in conference, the little wrestlers dropped a meet to Willowbrook 27-19. The sophomore grapplers won their meet against Willowbrook. Both freshmen and sophomores will take on Niles West tomorrow for their final match of the season.

AFTER DROPPING their first meet of the season, the sophomore track team bounced back and won its last two performances. Against Taft on February 6th, the ovalmen won 57-43. The thinclads easily defeated Morton West by a score of 81-19 on February 13th. Their next meet is against Evanston in an away meet.

THE FRESHMEN TRACK SQUAD lost its first meet to Morton West on February 13th. The score of the meet, held at Maine East's fieldhouse, was 63-27. They will have a chance to even their record tonight as they travel to Evanston to try their luck against the Wildkit frosh. The only two first places earned by the team in the Morton West meet were in the broad jump by Don Lossman, and in the mile run by Doug Chase.
