Marilyn 'falls away from it all'
"Heavens to Mergatroid" is the favorite expression of this year's Student Council secretary, Marilyn Skeppstrom. Marilyn was born in Oak Park and is a blue-eyed blonde who loves pizza and swimming.

Outside of keeping busy in Student Council, Marilyn enjoys Luther League, French Club, Future Nurses' club, Senior Leaders, and a certain alumnus at college in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Her pet peeves are kids who ask what Student Council is doing for them. She states that if they would have more interest and would stop complaining, everyone would be better off.

Looking forward to this year, Marilyn is trying to figure out Chemistry and how to run the mimeograph machine in the Student Council room. Marilyn thinks school spirit is improving but that more people should come to out-door
sports like track. Speaking of track brings up Marilyn's most embarrassing moment. This happened in her junior year at a track meet. Two boys whom she particularly liked were there. She didn't want to seem obvious, so she walked up the bleachers saying, "I'll get away from it all," and fell right through them! Her most thrilling moment was when she was elected Student Council secretary.

"In order to be a leader you must be a follower, and if you want cooperation, you have to be friendly and courteous." This is what Marilyn has learned most of all at Maine West.

Her best year so far in school, was her junior year because she met more people and I learned more about Maine.
