Warrior of the West

| "Team effort pays off", is "Big Chief" Charlie Curren's Maxim. This mighty warrior is 5 feet 9, and weighs 156 pounds. Charlie has played JV basketball and has lettered once in baseball and twice as a member of the football team. "In football you have to work hard and love the sport," said Charlie. He thinks that MW has the best coaches in the state. His most thrilling moments have been in football. As a sophomore he scored his first varsity touchdown, which tied the game at Glenbrook's homecoming. He scored four touchdowns in last year's Prospect game, at their homecoming. Perhaps his most embarrassing moment came during a game with Deerfield. |
Charlie caught the first punt and ran down the field for 80 yardstripped on the five yard line and fell flat on his face-needless to say, he didn't score. Among Charlie's hobbies is golf. This summer he spent some of his time helping boys learn to play baseball. He feels school spirit is, in general, pretty good, except that everyone spends so much time hammering on it. His pet peeve is people standing in the hall between classes talking and causing congestion. Charlie is punctual. Although his plans are not definite, he has been offered several sports scholarships and is looking forward to college. |
