Newly Formed Safety Council Aids Mainites

Have you seen the new bulletins which were posted throughout Maine West by the newly formed Safety Council? They were put up to inform the students about aids to safety.

The council is composed of two students from each homeroom who act as regular and al-ternate representatives. Mr. Victor Giovannini, chairman of the Driver's Education Department, and Mr. Richard Mueller, driving instructor, are the sponsors.

Mr. Mueller pointed out that this program promotes all kinds of safety, not only automobile safety.
The council will meet twice in February and once a month thereafter. The council's purpose is to discuss safety and to report its conclusions to the homerooms. The members also construct posters and distribute bulletins.

Each week a bulletin, containing safety tips which apply to the present season, will be read to the homerooms. During winter such topics as skiing and skating care will be covered. Spring bulletins will include boating and automobile safety and care while mowing lawns.

Mr. Giovannini reported, "The Safety Council is off to a good start and will continue to expand its program next year with the aid and cooperation of all the students of Maine West."
