Wrestlers Take Third in District

Last weekend the varsity wrestling team took third place in the Forest View District meet. First place went to Palatine with 77 points, Prospect was second with 76 points, and Maine West with 73 points.

First places taken by Maine were Tom Mordue, 95 lbs., won 6-2 and Jim Cichowski, 165 lbs., won 3-1. Seconds were John Krumpos at 112 lbs., Howie Deahr, 120 lbs., Jim Stamborski, 133 lbs. and Tom Hansch, 38 lbs.

A third was taken by Mark Praxmarer who pinned his 180 pound opponent in the consolaion match.

Two weeks ago the varsity rnatmen smashed Niles North 9-9, This was the seniors last meet in which every senior wrestling won. Winning for Maine were Mordue, 95 lbs., who pinned Ron Ploshay, 103 lbs., Krumpos, 112 lbs., Deahr, 120 lbs., Stamborski, 133 lbs., Hansch, 138 lbs., Cichowski, 165 lbs., Praxmarer, 180 lbs., and Al Kruse won at heavyweight.
Tonight is the first night of wrestling in the Palatine Sectional Meet. The finals will be at 7 p.m. Saturday. Wrestling for Maine West are Mordue, Cichowski, Krumpos,, Deahr, Stamborski, and Hansch. For real enjoyment come to the meet at Palatine and cheer our wrestlers on.

The JV wrestling squad won their last meet of the season over Niles North 45-5.

Sophomore matmen have dropped their last two meets to Niles North 20-22 and Proviso West 13-34.

The Freshman wrestlers have been victorious in their last meets of the season by defeating Niles North 36-14 and Proviso West 28-22.
