Business Club Sells At Games |

| "Yes sir, may I help you?" "What have you got?" "Hot dogs, six kinds of candy, gum, Pepsi, and orange." "Got any popcorn?" "No! Upstairs." "Okay, thanks." "Fortunately for us, most of the conversations between customers and ourselves don't go like this; in fact, the club has sold more of everything this season than in any other year," boasted Dan Ost '65, president of the boy's branch of the Maine West Business Club. Dan attributes this season's gain in sales to the fact that "we had two Pepsi trailers to sell from, and for the first time we were able to sell hot dogs." |
Relating some of the experiences he had while working at all nine of the home basketball games, Dan said, "It seemed like every week we had a different problem: foamy Pepsi, no workers, no candy, and too many customers!" "The oddest of all, however, was last Jan. 23rd when we didn't have any electricity! The power went off just after the first half of the JV game. We stayed open in the dark until the game was called off. I might add that we sold a few Pepsis and candy bars quite inexpensively because neither we nor the customer could tell the denominations of the coins!" The Business Club plans to use the profits from the concessions to bolster their treasury and, possibly, to buy a small gift for the school. |
