Mr. Spears Announces |

| Among the many excellent organizations in the Music Department at Maine West is Show Band, an instrumental group under the direction of Mr. Jared Spears. The band consists of the top students in the concert organizations and, as Mr. Spears proudly claims, "some of the best musicians in the school." Show Band rehearses twice a week for one and a half hours when preparing for a concert or a demonstration. |
Modern jazz and big-band music are its specialties. The band plays the music of many recent composers including Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Neil Hefty, and Henry Mancini. Many of the members compose their own music or arrange established hits for Show Band to play, and according to Mr. Spears, "They do a very excellent job." Some members also belong to the dance band combos at Maine. | |||||||||
