District Gym Meet Tonite at Glenbrook |
||||||||||
| Warrior gymnasts are entered in the State District meet at Barrington High School, March 4th and 5th. Maine hopes to send several representatives to the state meet on March 12th and 13th. The Musclemen finished their season in second place in the Mid Suburban League standings. Their dual meet record and third place effort in the Conference Meet left them short of Prospect, but ahead of Niles North, Forest View, Wheeling, Glenbrook South, and Glenbrook North. The Conference meet held at Glenbrook South saw Maine take a 1st, a 2nd, two 4ths, a 5th, a 6th, an 8th, and a 9th. Taking the Conference championship and displaying the form which makes him a contender for the state crown, was Bill Bach. Bach, somewhat overshadowed by Tom Rossing last year, compiled nine first places and two second places in the 11-meet season of the Westmen. |
Placing second on the high bar was Dick Braun. Dick's two other teammates in that event, Jim Nerius and Ken Bluhm, placed fourth and sixth, respectively. In the parallel bars John Kennett and Marty Dettmer placed fourth and fifth. John Abbott and Ray Mandel placed 8th and 9th in the rings and tumbling events. Prospect won the meet easily and should be a contender for the District title. Niles North edged Maine by a point and one half. Following in order were Forest View, Wheeling, Glenbrook South, and Glenbrook North. |
