Evanston's Tracksters Whip West |

| The Maine West varsity trackmen lost to a tough Evanston team 66-34 at Evanston on Feb. 19th. The Warriors picked up five first places in the meet. They were the four-lap relay team of Bernie Braun, Barry Johnson, Greg Kirishian, and Jerry Nebel; the eight-lap relay team of Braun, Kevin Flurkey, Lloyd Schiegel, and Rich Bokor; Bokor in the 440-yard dash; Schlegel in the 880-yard run; and John Greco in the mile run. Two second places taken by the cindermen were Wayne Wysoglad in the low hurdles and Phil Boyce in the pole vault. |
The soph track squad lost to Evanston 791/2 - 211/2 Bill Morstadt was the only one to take a first. The frosh also lost to Evanston, 67-39. They picked up only four firsts. In their latest meet the Maine West varsity trackmen whipped Niles West 84-16. Taking firsts were Rich Bokor in the 50 and 440 yd. dash, Phil Boyce in the pole vault, Bernie Braun in the broad jump, Phil Engle in the high jump, Al Eyre in shot put, John Greco in the mile, Lloyd Schiegel in the 880, and Herm Zelk in both the high and low hurdles, and also the Mile Relay team of Greg Kirishian, Kevin Flurkey, Schlegel, and Bokor. |
