MW Debaters on Channel 2 Tomorrow |
||||||||||
| Maine West debaters will be on Channel 2, tomorrow, March 20th, at 1:30 p.m. Also to be seen will be Lorna Seitz, editor of The Westerner, with a picture presentation of MW. The pro-gram was taped two weeks ago. It was victory for the MW debate team as they got their first win on the Rebuttal series sponsored by WBBM. About 45 MW supporters attended the taping as Dawn Piotter '65, Rob Reinhart '65, Joy Heckenbach '66, and Doug Bergman '67, battled Marian Central. The outcome showed MW winning by 3 to 0. Seeking their next win, the four debaters will meet Proviso West in the octa-final round on April 26. MW will represent the negative side of the topic Resolved: That the federal government should financially support the U.S. Olympic Participants in their trips to and from Olympic Games. The second debate will be shown on Rebuttal, May 15th. |
Kenn Hempel, managing editor of The Westerner, will pre-sent pictures and comments on Des Plaines at this program. The Rebuttal show is comprised of two four-man teams. There is a constructive speaker for each side. After delivering the constructive speech, the speaker is subjected to intensive questioning by two members of the opposing team for three minutes. Each team is then given three minutes to make their final attack on the other team. Dawn was MW's constructive speaker while Rob was the rebuttalist. Doug and Joy excelled with a masterful job of bombarding Marian Central with penetrating questions |
