Maine West Students Should Be Prepared To Follow |
||||||||||
| The campaigning, the voting, and the electing is over. Only two duties remain to be done: the announcement and the fulfillment of the candidates. Student Council election week will draw to a close tomorrow, when the new president-elect and secretary-elect are announced. The candidates have given their all. The voting is over, and the expectations are mounting. The question of who will lead has already been decided. The question, now, is will the student body follow these leaders? A leader is a person who must guide and conduct. He must have power, skill, and authority. Most essential to every leader is someone to guide and conduct. |
Promises have been made by all the candidates, and whoever wins must try to fulfill these promises to the best of his or her ability. The winner cannot fulfill the promises or lead the council if he or she does not have supporters and followers. The President and the Secretary of Student Council cannot dictate. That isn't why they ran for their offices. They wanted to lead and guide the council and the student body. The voters chose who would lead. But did the voters realize that with that vote we cast we also expressed that we would follow the leaders? We gave our vote to the people who were most qualified to lead. We must now make ourselves qualified to follow these leaders. |
