Why Do You Attend?

"I just want a lot of fun in high school. I don't want to 'think' too much." This is the attitude some students hold about education.

Fortunately, not everyone feels this way. Many students are here to learn. They want to leave high school with an understanding of English, science, and mathematics; not necessarily an education in cheerleading or playing football.

Too many people take school for granted. They come because they "have to" and look on these hallowed halls as prison walk-ways.
But education has a purpose. It helps the person form correct opinions and enables him to face the world with courage and hope-not just dejection and fear.

A person's need for an education and the standards it sets for him increases with his age. The educated man earns a decent wage. The person who "goofed off" in school only suffers.

Unfortunately, those who value their education are often shrugged off as "squares," "skins," or "radicals." But time will separate the "goof-offs" from the "intellectuals," and the joke will be that those who are laughing now won't be laughing last.
