| Magnificent! Colossal! A cast of hundreds! All of those words may aptly describe this year's student production of "South Pacific." This musical features songs such as "Some Enchanted Evening," "There is Nothing Like a Dame," and the rollicking favorite, "Honey Bun." Good seats are still available, and tickets are on sale at the bookstore and at Maria Schaeffer's Music Store in downtown Des Plaines. Seats are reserved and prices range from $1.25 to $1.75. The production is brimming with student and faculty talent. Members of the production staff have been working on the show since last December; and on April 1st, all their work will be presented to an opening night audience. The show will run three nights, April 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Student director for this year's show is Shirleen Ullrey '65, and assisting her is Elizabeth Radcliff '66. Jerri Walsh '65, will be lining up props; and Bill Jonas '66, and Pat Mashburn '65, will be in charge of costumes. |
Sue Kalb '65, language consultant, will be helping cast members with their French pronunciation. Painting scenery is the job of student art directors Jeanne Heller '65, Shirley Tistle '65, and Jane Wolski '65. Mark Weaver '67, stage manager, is in charge of building sets. Choreographers for the show are Diana De Franco '65, Donna Hostetler '66, and Connie Lambrecht '66. Gordon Scherer will be head of the lighting crew, and Wendy Geertz '66, is in charge of programs. The program cover was designed and executed by Mike Brennan '66. Mr. Robert Kuite is faculty general director and musical director. Mr. Garth Boyer is also assisting in the direction as script director. Mr. Wilbur Schafer is vocal director and works with all persons singing in the show. Mr. George Blanas has designed the scenery and costumes, and Mr. Robert Pelikan, Stagecrafter's sponsor, is building the sets. Mr. Jared Spears is directing all work on publicity. The combined efforts of these people are sure to result in one of the best productions ever staged at Maine West. |
