| The winners of the junior-senior wrestling tournament are Pete Wilming (180 lbs.), Les Belzer (167 lbs.), and Bob Torres (150 lbs.). The frosh-soph squads' champions were divided up into the usual six weight classes, and the finalists were Ted Weiser (heavyweight), Roger Pump (170 lbs.), John Stone (160 lbs.), Jim Thrawl (140 lbs.), Jim Phela (120 lbs.) and Bill Bluhm (100 lbs.). Intramural weightlifting, the sophomores will compete this Monday, while the freshmen contend on Wednesday. Senior volleyball contestants will play on Monday, March 29th. "There will be trophies given," announced intramural director Mr. Miley Hotchkiss, "to the top two intramural athletes from each class at the end of the school year." The players achieving the most points will be presented with trophies. Some of the best contenders for the spots are seniors till Franzin, Ed Mormon, and Mike Neese; juniors Burt Lucas, Eric Isenbarger, and Bruce Kennett; sophomores Mike Mietus, Mike Kraft, and Gerald Swanson; freshmen Tom Martin, Bruce Bluhm, and Dave Williams. |
GAA Six Maine West beauties have been chosen to attend the University of Illinois' annual physical-education "playday" at the school's Urbana campus. The playday will be held at 9 am., March 27th. |
