AFS Seeks 44 Host Families |
||||||||||
| Would you like an interesting guest for the 4th of July weekend? Forty-four families are needed to host foreign-exchange students for that weekend. These 44 students are from Europe and the Far East. The experience of meeting these students will surely be worthwhile and rewarding. Although the students will not arrive until July 2nd, application forms are now available in the Main Office and must be returned by April 9th according to Ten Prochaska '65, AFS committee chairman. It is extremely important that the applications be in by this deadline. Since so many host families will be needed, Mr. Larew Collister urges everyone interested to fill out an application. The students will arrive Friday afternoon, July 2nd, at the Maine West bus concourse. In order to match the host families with their guest students, each host and student will be wearing an identification tag showing both names. |
The balance of Friday will be spent in the hosts' homes so that the students and their "Families" may get acquainted with each other. Saturday morning the foreign exchange students will take a bus tour of Chicago. That evening there will be group parties at which six or eight families from one area will gather for common interest discussions including exchange of information about our country and our visitors' countries. That evening it is suggested that the host families treat the student to the excellent fireworks display at Maine East. Monday morning, July 5th, the bus will leave Maine West, taking the students for a tour of the East Coast and a meeting with President Johnson in Washington, D. C. |
