| "Alma Mater? You kiddin'? We've already got that 'Hail to Thee' business! Oh I compute. We want something with feeling, not just rhythm. We want class!'' "You say there'll be assemblies where we can pick the things, the songs, on April 21st, 22nd, 23rd, and 26th? Yeah? What else do you know?" The assemblies will be during homeroom period only. Students will go directly to the auditorium, where the bulletin will be read. Each song will be played once or twice if time allows. The students will then return to their homerooms, where petitions will be handed out. Each student will vote for the song he likes best. The tunes for the songs were chosen from Amhurst College and University of Michigan school songs and Brahms Symphony. The words to the songs were written by Brian Dole '65 and Jim Kahn '65. In the future the Alma Mater song will be played at homecomings and graduations. |
The top five per cent of the Senior Class and their parents have been invited to the Mothers' Club Awards Tea. This annual event will be held in R-104 at 3:30 on April 8th. A certificate of scholastic achievement will be awarded to each of these students. Each boy will receive a tie tack, and each girl will receive a charm. If you want to see the movie "Sound of Music," you're in luck. On Saturday, April 24th, the Theater Club is going to see this Rogers and Hammerstein musical. Everyone is invited to come. You do not have to be a member of Theater Club. A chartered bus will leave the school at 8 am. and return about noon. Tickets can be purchased in the bookstore for $1. "Sound of Music" is about the Trapp family singers. Mrs. Gass commented, "We expect a good turnout." According to her, these trips are taken to permit students to see many movies they do not have the chance to see otherwise and at special student prices. ID. pictures for the 1965-66 school year will be taken April 29th and 30th for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors during English classes. Yearbook pictures will be taken at the same time for freshmen and sophomores. Juniors will have their graduation pictures taken during the summer. Pictures will be taken in the auditorium. Students absent on those days will be notified when pictures will be taken again. WANTED: Boys 16-19 who play bass guitar, drums, lead guitar (electric), or piano, to play and sing with two girls, 16-17. Must want to work professionally.
