French Trip Set For June

Bon Voyage! Bonjour Paris! On June 26th, 26 students from Maine West, South, and East will begin their fabulous 40-day "French Abroad" program, designed to improve their spoken French and deepen their appreciation of French culture. This is a fully accredited course offered with the regular Maine summer school program.

In Saint-Malo in Brittany, the students will attend a four-week course in French language and civilization at the University at Rennes. The groups will stop en route for two days in New York, four days in London, a day in
Cambridge, and a day in Cherbourg or Le Havre. A highlight of the trip will be a four-day visit to the capital of France, Paris. The students and their chaperones will travel by chartered plane, channel steamer, and train. There will be a dance every Saturday night at the Casino.

A two-week orientation course at Maine South in French social, political, and cultural matters will precede the trip. This is to help the students adjust to their new homes in France.
