Next Year's Twirlers Selected |

| At the majorettes' workshop held March 3rd, 11 baton twirlers were chosen for next year. All freshmen and sophomore girls were invited to attend and were taught dancing and marching steps. Jerri Walsh '65, Mona Roegner '65, Nancy Franczkowski '65, and Mrs. Marcene Larkin, baton twirling instructor, were the judges. All girls with a high C average or better were eligible to try out. They were judged on marching, dancing, and general effect. The new twirlers are Diane Sherrer '68, Chris Sherrer '67, Kathy Sentov '67 Lynne Seke '67, Sandra Lauffenherger '67, Sue Bower '68, Chery Swanson '67, Joyce Hettcar '68, Mary Anne Wallace '68, Mari1yn Schich '68, Nancy Fernow '68, and Anita Waskowski '67. |
Junior and senior twirlers are Sandy Cappelen '66, Judy Foreman '66, Carol Funk '66, Nancy Franczkowski '65, Nancy Kinder '66, Sue Mandell '66, Barb Matula '66, Donna Mooney '66, Mona Roegner '65, and Jerri Walsh '65. Mrs. Larkin is experienced in baton twirling. She was Kansas state champion for three years and second in a national contest. She was honorary majorette in high school for four seasons and for 12 seasons with a university band. Mrs. Larkin traveled all over the United States in competition. She now teaches in majorette camps. Mrs. Larkin said, "I feel that being a baton twirler helps you be more poised." |
