Writers To Be Honored at Tea

Seventeen students will be honored at the annual Quill and Scroll Society Tea, which will be held Tuesday, May 18th at 3:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Members of the journalism class, The Legend and The Westerner staffs and all other students who will be on either staff next year are invited to attend the tea.

The general qualifications for membership in the society are to have done outstanding work on a school publication and to be in the upper one-third of one's respective class. Those students who have met these qualifications and have served on Legend staff for two years are Nancy Carlson '66, Wendy Geertz '66, Sue Olson '66, Lynne Streubing '66, Jim Wandrey '66, and Linda Waters '66.

Students who have met the general qualifications, have had 100 inches of their writing printed in The Westerner, and who have been selected for the staff of the paper for next year or who have already served on the staff were also nominated for membership. They are Joe Amenta '66, Dan Barry '65, Chris Birchfield '66, Jan Bollet '67,
Kenn Hempel '65, Marlene Lorenz '66, Jan Nelson '67, Kathy Orlowitz '65, Al Pier '65, Diane Walsh '65, and Dreama Wells '65.

Each of the new members will receive a gold pin, a membership card, and a year's subscription to Quill and Scroll magazine.

The announcement of the staff positions for both publications will highlight the tea. Lorna Seitz, editor-in-chief of the paper, will announce the new staff positions for The Westerner, and Donna Batdorf, editor-inchief of the yearbook, will announce the new staff positions for The Legend.

Next year's officers of Quill and Scroll will be elected at the tea.
