Families Chosen To Host
AFS Students July 4th

The 44 host families, who will host the foreign exchange students over the July 4th weekend, have been selected.

There will be a meeting on Monday, June 14th, at 8 p.m. in the Maine West cafeteria for all the host families and the stand-by families. The purpose of this meeting is to give the families all the necessary information they will need and allow them to clear up any questions they might have.

Mr. John Means, president of the local adult chapter here in Des Plaines, received information from AFS headquarters that there will be an equal number of boys and girls in the group arriving here this summer. He also stated that a farewell party was given for this year's foreign exchange student from the Netherlands, Carla Fasting. The party was held Tuesday, June 1st, at 7:30 p.m. here at Maine West.

Friday afternoon, July 2nd, the students will arrive at the Maine West bus concourse and will spend the balance of Friday getting acquainted with their ''families.''

Saturday morning, July 3rd, the students will be given a six hour bus tour of Chicago. That evening there will be progressive dinners after which a dance will be held at Maine West until 10:30 p.m.

Sunday morning, July 4th, the exchange students will attend religious services. It is hoped that the host families will be able to accommodate a church that will correspond with the religious background of their student.
