Prominent Seniors Honored
At Assembly

"Grand March" from "Aida" and "March Processional," the processional for the Commencement exercises, will be played by the Concert Band conducted by Mr. Robert Kuite, chairman of the Music Department, to open the ceremony. The Rev. Allen Fedder, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Des Plaines, will deliver the invocation.

Mr. Herman Rider, principal, will introduce Mark Sorenson, the class president, who will

introduce the salutatorian and valedictorian. Presenting the diplomas will be Mr. Stanley Osri, president of the school board, with the assistance of school board members Mr. William Newport, Mr. John Wilkins, and Mr. E. Hoy McConnell.

For the first time in the history of Maine West, the graduating class will sing the Alma Mater, which was written and arranged this year.

The exercises will be followed by the recessional, "Pomp and Circumstance" and "Pomp and Chivalry."

This morning the members of the class of 1965 gathered in the auditorium to hear the announcement of the recipients of the departmental awards and scholarships at the Senior Honors Assembly.

Rob Reinhart has attained the honor of being valedictorian of the Senior Class.

"Being Salutatorian is a won-derful feeling," replied Chris Sparrow, who is number two in the Senior Class and has been at the top since her freshman year.

In Art, Jane Wolski took honors. Business Education selected Theresa Finn and Kori Sue Rohrbacher. Receiving the award from the English Department were Margaret Brown and John Bleharski. Barbara Gundelach won the Home Economics award and James Vrastiak and Richard Schnell were named tops in Industrial Education.
The Language Department selected Carole Engh. For his achievement in Mathematics Michael Amling was given the award. Music honored Roberta Wells. Boys' Physical Education selected Michael Caradonna and Robert Cizek while Girls' Physical Education presented Constance Rische and Joyce Humay with awards. Richard Leyerle took honors in Science and Randall Dean was high in Social Science.

Receiving Good Will Awards were John Bleharski, Richard Braun, Paula Clayton, Diane Dc Franco, Diane Dormeyer, Joyce Humay, James Kahn, Donald Kinder, Robert Kunkel, Kent Lashway, Linda Petkus, Deborah Quinn, Marilyn Skeppstrom, and Mark Sorensen.

Maine's AFS student, Carla Fasting, was presented an honorary Good Will Award.

GAA offered its scholarship to Gloria Frank. The Student Council award from the Path was received by Christina Sparrow, and the Kiwanis Key Club scholarship went to Mike Nielson. A new award, the Art Club Book Award, was given to Patrick La Salle.

Barbara Kosac was named tops in sports by GAA.

In charge of the Honors As-sembly was the student chairman, Robert Kunkel.

The members of the Junior Honor Guard will be Steven Beilstein, Sandra Breuscher, Robert Burgess, Nancy Carlson, Carol Collister, Joanne Currer, Kevin Flurkey, Wendy Geertz, Thomas Graefe, Christine Haarvig, Joy Heckenbach, Lawrence Hofmann, John Hollenback, George Kinstedt, Nancy Kruse, Harold Johnson, Peter Kulik, Linda Meyer, Edward Nichols, Linda Olson, Drusilla Owen, Gretchen Rivard, Roberta Swain, Ronald Swenson, Julia Szabo, and Gerald Zulaski.
