Stoney Jackson is possibly Maine West's most outstanding all-round athlete. He is the first Mainite since Al Waters to be placed on four all-Conference teams in three sports. Jackson was on the mound for the diamondmen's defense at the State High School Championship. As both a reliever and starter Jackson was an all-Conference selection. This year was almost a repeat of last year. Stoney played both defensive and offensive end in football, forward in basketball, and when a touchy arm hurt his pitching, he slugged his way into the starting first baseman's job. He was voted to the all-Conference teams in all three sports. |
