| What's 5-feet 6-inches tall and has green hair? Diane "Dorp" Dormeyer, vice-president of Student Council, is the answer. The Westerner staff is not at liberty to relate all the details, but it might be disclosed that at one time Diane's hair was "sunkist green." Right, Diane? This busy senior is also secretary of the choir at her church, a senior leader, assembly cochairman of Pep Club, and a member of Brotherhood Society. She was on the WMTH staff for two years and has been work ing with Pep Club all four years. Her favorite subject is government. She loves Mr. Freeman, although he's the cause of her pet peeve. Every time Mr. Freeman rings his bell and says, "Let us proceed," Diane cringes Her biggest thrill at Maine was being prom chairman last year. "I found out how great my class really is." She is very proud to be a part of Maine. She likes the faculty, the teams, the clubs, even the food! She feels that school spirit is great, but that a lot of potential spirit is unused. "Much like school spirit, Student Council must be supported by the entire student body. Student Council doesn't claim to be a perfect organization; constructive criticism from the student body is welcomed." |
"My freshman year was the most fun because I could make a fool out of myself, and I didn't seem out of place!" Diane has two sisters, one a freshman at Maine, and the other a junior in college. She spends a little of her time writing to one of Uncle Sam's boys in Minnesota. Diane is looking forward to graduation with mixed emotions. Of course, after her hysterics at last year's graduation, a lot of people are wondering whether she'll be able to make it through this year's ceremony. She couldn't decide which experience she has had was most embarrassing. When Diane was a frosh, she caught a letterman's sweater on her steno pad and watched it unravel as the boy walked down the hail! At the beginning of this year she was sent to the bookstore to buy dictionaries. She was walking down A-wing, holding 20 quarters in change and 10 dictionaries. Something had to go, and it did! Twenty quarters and 10 dictionaries went flying down the hail, and "I could have cried! What a way to start, my senior year!" This certainly was a perfect start for Diane's senior year! |
