Warriors Travel to Niles
The Warriors take on Niles North's Vikings tonight at Niles East's field. The Westmen are aiming for their third straight Conference win, having whitewashed GB South and Wheeling in the last two outings.

This is Niles North's first year of competition. They were walloped by GB North 40-0 two weeks ago.

In the Wheeling game last Saturday it was a romp from the start for MW. The Warriors kicked to the Wildcats to open the first quarter. The tough Warrior defense forced Wheeling to punt on a fourth and 10 situation. The Warriors took the punt on the Wildcat 40; and seven plays later, Curren churned into the end zone for his first of four TD's in the game. Smith's kick for the extra point was good.

Curren Gets Second TD

Soon the Warriors started their march for the second score from the Wheeling 34. Kuzich hit for six yards and Cichowski bulled his way to the 23 for a first down. Three plays later Curren scored. The conversion attempt was blocked.

Before the half ended, MW started another drive on their own 20. On first clown Curren swept right end for 54 yards to the Wildcat 26-yard line. After two 3-yard carries, the Warrior workhorse scored his third TD on a 20-yard jaunt. Again the conversion attempt was blocked. Half-time score was 19-0.

The Warriors took the second half kick-off. On first down Curren scored for the fourth time. This was a 72-yard gallop that ended Wheeling's hopes of ever getting back into the game. Braun, Tom Carl, and Jackson each ran for a touchdown later in the game while the lone aerial score came on a 34-yard pass from Jim Kantz to Jeff Pabick. The final score was 52-0.

Beat GB South

At GB South two weeks ago, Curren returned a punt 75 yards at 3:28 of the second quarter for the first score. Cichowski ran for the extra point. The Titans threatened twice before the half with the ball deep in Warrior territory. The tough MW defense held firm both times.
The second and last score came in the fourth quarter when Mike Kuzich took a 25-yard pass from Curren which capped a 75-yard march. The conversion attempt was blocked. The Warriors took home a 13-0 victory.

JV's Defeated

Tonight the JV team travels to Niles North in search of its first victory. GB South handed the sub-varsity a 13-0 defeat.

Sophs Win, Lose

The soph eleven will travel to Niles North tomorrow for a 9:30 am. game. GB South fell to the sophs 27-13 on Sept. 24th. Mandelke ran for two TD's and three extra points. Haas caught a 12-yard pass from

Murdock to score. Fuibright picked up a good block from Meador and went 65-yards to put the game on ice.

Last Saturday the sophs tumbled to Wheeling 25-19. On the first set of downs, Maine drove 68 yards in two plays for the score. Mandelke took the ball over from the 32. After a Wheeling TD, Mandelke picked up a block from Ryden and ran 8 yards for the second TD. He also scored a third time on a 5-yard pass from Murdock, making it 19-6. Wheeling came back strong with three touchdowns, making the score 25-19 as the gun ended the game.

Frosh Trounce Wheeling

The freshman "A" squad walloped Wheeling 27-6 last Saturday at Wheeling. West's four touchdowns were scored by Szaltis, Werner, and Banger who scored twice. Selig scored two touchdowns which were nullified by clipping and off-side penalties.

Last Saturday the freshman "B" squad lost to Wheaton 7-0.

The "C" squad edged Oak Park 14-12 last Saturday there. In the first quarter Liss made the first TD for MW. The other was scored by English in the fourth quarter.
