| Eleven teams competed for championship honors in the Senior Class intramural touch foothail tournament which began Tuesday, Sept. 29th. After three days of roundrobin competition, the field was narrowed to two teams which were Coach Carsten's fifth period class, captained by Jim Stamborski, and Coach Baer's eighth period class, captained by Al Rateike. Last Monday the two teams met in the championship game with Coach Baer's class coming out on top 22-13. Playing on the winning team were Bruce Jacobsen, Tom Hendrickson, Chuck Huestis, Rich Hoffmeyer, Dave Ladendon, Dan Makos, Al Rateike, Jim Smith, Boy Syphers, Ed Thal, and Bill Verber. Golf Honors Brian Copeland took first place honors in the frosh golf tournament by shooting 65 at the Lake Park course. Steve Braunstein, Tom Martin, and Gary Smith also earned awards for their low scores. Boys are reminded to get in the annual cross country run which appears next on the intramural calendar. Competition is on a class basis, and awards will be given for the first six places in each class. |
GAA Tennis Team Wins In a meet with Barrington the girls' tennis team came out on top 3-2. In singles Bonnie Junius won (6-3, 6-2); Dotsy Wagar lost (2-6, 2-6); Marilyn Jenks won (6-2, 6-4). In doubles Jan Hargrave and Lee Winski won (6-5, 6-2); while Gloria Frank and Cheryl Ragedorn lost (1-6, 6-4, 6-3). The female netsters shut out Maine East on Oct. 1st. In the singles matches Bonnie won (6-1, 6-5); Dotsy, (6-1,6-1); for doubles Jan and Lee (6-1, 6-1); Pat Clement and Cheryl (6-4, 6-3). Tonight the girls will be battling Glenbrook. All girls are reminded to come out for the intramural games which are played daily after school. |
