Runners Cop 6th Win
Maine West's varsity cross country squad is rapidly running its way up to the top of the conference standings. This week the unbeaten harriers are tied for first place after whipping Niles West 15 to 50 last Tuesday. The first 10 Maine runners were Greco, 10:01; Schlegel, 10:20; Flurkey, 10:26; Kehrer, 10:28; Johnstone, 10:30; Bokor, 10:32; Labadie, 10:34; Suszko, 10:43; Tantone, 10:53; and Zografos, 10:58. Eighteen Maine West runners came in before the first harrier from Niles finished. Tuesday's win marked Maine's sixth victory.

Tonight Niles North will be host to the West thin-dads. Maine's next home meet will be held on October 16th. The harriers will host Forest View, one of their toughest opponents.

Between the football games last Saturday, the cross country team ran against Wheeling and won by a nearly perfect score of 15 to 48. John Greco was again the first runner to cover the
two-mile course with a time of 10:23. Following Greco were Kinder, 10:46; Schlegel, 10:48; Flurkey, 10:51; Kehrer, 10:52; Johnstone, 11:06; Suszko, 11:08; Zografos, 11:10; Bokor,11:22; and Lusk, 11:26.

September 29th marked the Warrior's fourth consecutive victory by a perfect score of 15 to 50 against Morton East. Maine's first 10 runners were Greco, 10:18; Lusk, 10:33; Flurkey, 10:39; Kehrer, 10:41; Schlegel, 10:48; Johnstone, 10:54 Suszko, 10:58; Bokor, 11:15; Zografos, 11:15; and Boyce, 11:19.

Frosh-Soph Take Two

The frosh-soph cross country team ran to two more victories bringing the season total to five. The harriers defeated Morton East 24 to 30 and Wheeling 17 to 40.

Pacing the harriers to victory was Doug Chase with a winning time of 11:18. He was followed by Scott Hooson with 11:46 and John Stone with 11:56.

Last Tuesday the Niles Indians defeated the thinclads 20 to 36 on the local course.
