The Maine West Dad's Club will sponsor Abe Saperstein's world famous Harlem Globetrotters Basketball Team in an exhibition game on Sunday, Nov. 1st, at 2:30 p.m. at the Maine East fieldhouse.

The Globetrotters, the clownprinces of basketball, always display an excellent performance guaranteed to leave the audience laughing. An added attraction to the half-time show will be the appearance of "Peg- Leg" Bates, the famed onelegged dancer.

Tickets are on sale in the bookstore at $2.50 for adults and $1.50 for children 14 and under.

Tuesday, Oct. 27th, the second Maine West Parent-Teacher Council's Open House will be held from 7 until 10 p.m. Parents whose last names begin with letters N through Z and those who missed Oct. 22nd will have the chance to meet the teachers.

Students will be dismissed at 2:20 p.m., omitting the 7th period.

Students planning to enter the Voice of Democracy Contest should have their essays turned in to Miss Jean Poling, who may be found in A-113, by Nov. 15th. This year's topic is "The Challenge of Citizenship." Essays should be three to five minutes in length. They will be judged on originality, content, and delivery. The top 12 from Maine West will be sent on to the County Contest. Maine West will award prizes to the top three finalists.
Mr. Eldon Burk, science teacher and new sponsor, announced today that the Maine West Key Club will have a project to collect bars of soap for the patients of the Dixon State Hospital for mentally retarded. This project will run from Oct. 18th to Nov. 7th.

The Key Club will take care of the distribution of boxes for the soap. The boxes will be in stores throughout the city of Des Plaines from Oct. 18th to Nov. 7th. All soap collections will go to the patients as Christmas presents.

This project is one of the many projects done by the Key Club for the betterment of the community.

Students won free tickets for the Homecoming Dance by going around school greeting everyone with "Beat the Falcons." Students who won are Barb Basner '68, John Burkman '66, Claudia Burnett '65, Bob Cappelen '68, John Cane '65, Don Clark '67, Jim Didier '68, Marty Emling '68, Carole Engh '65, and Trent Ervin '68.

Also winning were Ernie Fulbright '67, Dave Gnoske '65, Ron Hopkins '65, Donna Hostetler '66, Jackie La Salle '67, Kate Levan '67, John Meador '67, Cheryl Mell '67, Terry Newport '68, Jan Peterson '68, Tom Pyron '67, Beth Radcliffe '66, Phil Reich '66, Jim Richards 65, Linda Richey '65, Ted Waskowski '68, and Bob Werner '68.

College night will be held Thursday, Nov. 19th, at 7 p.m. All sophomore, junior, and senior students are invited to attend with their parents.
